Dolorimeter or Thermal Stimulator is designed to provide controlled thermal stimuli to skin surface with adjustable target temperature and duration. It can be used to assess the sensory functions of the nervous system.
Dolorimeter System (The dolorimeter and a circulating water bath) provides fast rise time of the contact heat probe and active cooling mechanism. Heat pulses from selected baseline temperature to target temperature (up to 60 degree centigrade) are used to evoke experimental pain sensation. This information is useful for determining the integrity of the nociceptive peripheral nerve fibers and assisting in diagnosis of several neurological disorders such as: hyperalgesia, fibromyalgia, and ALS.
